The significance of Hernandez v. Texas was that it stated that the Fourteenth Amendment applied to and protected Mexican-Americans and all other racial groups. This ruling by the Warren Court progressed the fight to end racial discrimination, as it extended the protections of the Fourteenth Amendment to racial groups other than just blacks or whites.
