What renaissance ideas eroded the authority of the church

    The reason the church had so much authority was bc most people couldn't read so the pope and priests could make up sections of the bible that didn't exist and use it to their advantage, this is what gave them power; the renaissance and the enlightenment was all about education and "enlightening" youself, so once everyone learned how to read, the chruch couldn't make up stuff in order to boss people around
