If you're talking about the promise that God made with Abraham, then in short terms God made a pact or promise to Abraham, if he were to obey him and always do was was right in God's eyes than God would give him many descendants, more than Abraham could ever imagine. Nations, countries and many people were linked to Abraham.

The Jews viewed Abraham as the first patriarch of the Jewish people. He was considered to be the first to teach and preach the idea that there was only one God, which there is.
