The Bill of Rights was introduced to the Constitution in order to appease Anti-Federalists who wanted rights for the citizens. Without their votes the U. S. Constitution would not have been ratified. Today, the Bill of Rights is often overlooked when the government is trying to make decisions for the good of the country. For example, the Espionage and Sedition Act stripped Americans from their First Amendment right, but it was necessary in order to safeguard the country.
