The Sixth Amendment allows for a "speedy trial" which today is commonly assumed to be:

A. within 30 days so that those unable to make bail will not be unduly punished

B. within 100 days of arrest barring extraordinary needs or circumstances

C. whenever the courts can fit the case into the docket

D. within one year unless the defendant or prosecution needs more time
