Based on the map, why would the United States take action to stop the deployment of missiles to Cuba? Cuba was more likely to start a nuclear war with the United States than the Soviets. Nuclear missiles launched from Cuba could strike almost anywhere in the United States. A nuclear explosion in Cuba could affect the environment of the United States. Missiles launched from Cuba could reach the USSR.

    They blockaded Cuba because due to the proximity of Cuba to the mainland of the US the missile could strike almost anywhere and this posed an especially large threat to the citizens of Florida.
