    Treaty of Paris

    Explanation:

The Treaty of Paris of 1783 is a peace treaty signed between the United Kingdom and the United States of America on 3 September 1783. The treaty recognized the independence of the United States and defined the boundaries between the US and the remaining British North American colonies. The Treaty of Paris was drafted as a response to the Battle of Yorktown (September 28 - October 19, 1781) where combined US-French forces sieged British forces led by Lord Cornwallis at the town of Yorktown, Virginia. While the British were at first able to resist the siege, their position rapidly became untenable. On October 17, Cornwallis surrendered, with the final surrender ceremony taking place on October 19, 1781.
