The end of the last Ice Age had a big impact on Louisiana's physical environment, especially in the southern portion of it. For starters, the southern part of the territory has been submerged under water because of the rapidly growing sea levels. This has resulted in the water to come further inside Louisiana. The advancing water created a very interesting and very raged coastline. Lots of bays have been formed, numerous lakes, as well as making the southern half of the state being dominated by wetlands, thus giving the current appearance of Louisiana.
