Ronald Reagan administration of 1985-1988 and the George H. W Bush's administration of 1989-1992 were mainly similar due to their tax laws which they persuaded Congress to enact huge tax cuts.

    Among other similarities include:

They projected America's military might to other countries which drew criticism from cautious Americans. They were more conservative on social issues like being anti-abortion and trying to restore traditional values. They were aggressive against terrorism.

    Among their differences are:

President Bush was not a great orator as Ronald Reagan was President Ronald Reagan was more charismatic than George Bush was. President Bush is not as adaptable as Ronald Reagan to developing issues. This was evidenced in Reagan's alliance with Mikhail Gorbachev to end 'the evil empire' Communism and which Bush was not able to do in handling Iraq properly.

While the two former presidents had similarities in policies and lifestyle, it would be incorrect to infer that George H. W. Bush's administration was essentially a 'third term' Reagan administration in its policies and goals because each of them had their differences, even though President Bush considered President Reagan a mentor.
