    Answer:The U. S. Navy guided missile USS Stark (FFG-31).

    Explanation: On 17 May 1987 a United States Navy frigate in the Persian Gulf was struck by a missile fired from an Iraqi warplane, causing serious damage and many casualties, The guided missile frigate, the Stark, was struck and set afire by at least one of two Exocet sea-skimming missiles fired by a pair of jets. It was the victim of the only successful anti-ship missile attack on a U. S. Navy warship.
