    The primary economic consequence of the Civil War was that the South lost its primary labor force (slaves) and therefore suffered a crippled economy. The main political consequence was that the Democratic Party was greatly weakened (since they had mostly been pro-slavery), and the main social consequence was that a series of Jim Crow laws were implemented to keep the newly-freed slaves from advancing.
