Freedom of the press denotes the right of broadcasting institutions, the press and other media to exercise their activities unhindered, above all to the uncensored publication of news and opinions by the state.

Freedom of the press or media is intended to ensure freedom of information and expression, pluralistic diversity of opinion and thus democratic decision-making, as well as transparency and control of politics by public opinion.

Therefore, the importance of this right within a republican and democratic system is that freedom of the press publicizes acts of government and allows citizens to exercise their political and civil rights with full information and civic awareness.
