When creating a historical argument, start by doing some initial research. Using the information you gather, you can develop a question philosophy hypothesis ideology, which you will prove or disprove by conducting further research on the topic. As you look for answers, make sure to complete your research with historical accuracy timeframe context resources in mind. You shouldn't apply the same attitudes and knowledge of today to events or people from the past.
