What were the results of harsh reconstruction policies that were applied to the south?

    The results were public revolts and protests. It turned out that the politicians who participated in the reconstruction, the so called carpet baggers, were corrupt and spent way too much so the people voted to end the reconstruction policies because they deemed that slavery was over and there was no bringing it back so they ended the policies.
