    Explanation: North Carolina ratified the constitution proposed by the General Convention of 1787 in 1789 in what was called the Fayetteville Convention, a year after the failed Hillsborough convention held the year before. The failed convention had been dominated by Anti-Federalists, as scuh the constitution had not been ratified nor rejected, but after the elections in North Carolina of 1789, a Federalist majority took most of the seats at the convention in Fayetteville, which resulted in the successful ratification of the constitution.
