Which reason did many Americans have for coming to Texas in the 1820s

    The reason why so many Americans arrived at Texas during the 1920's was to populate that state. The Mexican government was giving land to those who would go to Texas and settle there; they had to become citizens, take an oath and accept the Catholic faith. There was so much migration to Texas, that the Mexican population was outnumbered by American-born immigrants; and in December of 1845, Texas became a state; part of the United States.
