    Answer: a. it is based on prior knowledge, but it has not been widely tested on her circuit.

    Explanation:

    A theory has been tested and has data to back it up in its quest to explain a phenomenon.

    A Hypothesis on the other hand is not yet tested and reflects what the person stating it thinks will happen if certain conditions exist. It is therefore based on previous knowledge with the view to apply that knowledge to a phenomenon to explain it.

    Ana has no evidence backing her assertion which is why she uses the word "if". She however bases her assertion on previous knowledge making this a hypothesis.
