    Explanation:

    A siege is a strategy in which a military force surrounds its enemy forming a military blockade with the intention of getting ready for well-planned attack or wearing it down by cutting all its supply lines. If the second option is taken, then wearing down the enemy can take a prolonged period of time, but this is often preffered as this is the safest choice to fight assuring the least number of loss.
