As the settlers moved Westwards, the native American tribes were also forced to abandon their lands in order to provide the necessary space needed by both the settlers and the new railroads that were constructed.

Native Americans depended on buffaloes as a source of nutrition. However, the settlers used to hunt these buffaloes as a sort of sport which affected the buffalo migration and consequently lead to food shortages for the native Americans.

Native Americans were treated unfairly by the settlers and were forced to change their lifestyle. As a result of this, battles usually broke between the settlers and the native Americans.
