Life in the West were settled groups, bringing and maintaining cultures as they struggled hard to become Americans. Ethnic groups arrived, started settling as groups, keeping and enjoying their cultures while becoming americans. Life in the East there was british influence. Families have been in the U. S. A much longer. Many families would signifiance on splitting from the family and friends into making their own way. The kids would often move away to other states or cities to start their own families.
