To defend the pope and the Catholic Church using learning and education. It was founded on August 15, 1534 by St. Ignatius De Loyola who gathered a group of talented individuals who used their abilities in their preaching and were very eloquent and energetic in their campaign to spread the Catholic faith. They’re efforts were successful as they were able to retain Bohemia, Hungary, Poland and other countries into the Catholic faith. Many were advisers and confessors to kings and rulers and their missionary work contributed to the spread of the Catholic faith.
