The Italians surrendered and joined the Allies.

    Explanation:

On July 1943, the allied forces began to invade Hitler-controlled parts of Europe and made its first landing on Sicily, Italy. The allied forces deployed about 150,000 troops there and Sicily was captured. After the invasion of Sicily, the rest of the country was gradually captured and Mussolini's government collapsed. A new government was formed and Italy was made to surrender and join the allied force under the new government. An agreement was resolved that Italy would aid the allied forces in fighting against the German forces.
