How did early Romans use the information gathered in the census to begin their republic?

Servius Tullius organized the first census of Rome, the census counts the citizens by one-hundreds. The more sets of one-hundred citizens were numbered, the more voting rights they were given to the people. They use census information to create a better system for the government.

In what ways has our democracy evolved from these beginnings?

Even though the government of Rome by no means be considered to be a democratic country, it never failed to allow its citizens to voice out their opinion.

In what ways has it deviated?

The system of the early Romans deviated the traditional way of determining the election rights of the people, they were based on the number people residing in Rome.
