    Answer: The spread of books and literacy via Gutenberg's printing press increased the spread of ideas faster, and the availability of books to both the rich and poor alike allowed for a higher literacy rate around the world. More people were able to input their ideas, and thus began an era of enlightenment and invention. The renaissance began with this spread of literacy, in which was created many priceless works, art, and books.
