1555, temporary settlement within the Holy Roman Empire of the religious conflict arising from the Reformation. a treaty between Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor (the predecessor of Ferdinand I) and the Schematically League, signed in September 1555 at the imperial city of Augsburg. The Peace of Augsburg (1555), signed by Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, ended the war between German Lutherans and Catholics.
