different kinds of compromises were made to get the constitution ratified. you have the the Connecticut Compromise. which was to settle the debate between small states and a large states which ended up with the senate and the house of republicans. then we had to add a Bill of rights after some states only said they would ratify it if there was amendments to protect the Citizen's rights to certain things. and the three-fifths compromise which was mainly for the southern states with slaves, which was were a slave would only be counted as three fifths of a person.

The US Constitution emerged from the debate about weaknesses in the Articles of Confederation and was the product of important compromises over issues of representation and the power of the federal government.

Although the Constitution was eventually ratified, debates over the role of the central government, the powers of state governments, and the rights of individuals remain at the heart of present-day constitutional issues.
