The Jim Crow Laws which came over a decade later. They limited the civil rights of African Americans such as forcing them to sit at the back of the bus, requiring them to memorize the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution in order to qualify to vote, and birth records, marriage records, and deaths of blacks were kept separate from whites.
