On May 4, 1886 a labor rights group rioted in haymaket square in Chicago for a fair 8 hour workday and to protest an unfair police killing of labor union workers the previous day. An unknown person threw a stick of dynamite killing a few people and the media/country blamed it on the labor unions. It was a major step back in the labor rights movement.
