Both countries left the league. Like Germany both countries embark on a campaign of conquest. Japan invaded Manchuria and Italy invaded Ethiopia. Rather than be restrained by the league they chose to continue their aggression. Soon Germany, Italy and Japan formed the Axis Powers and they launched a campaign to conquer all the countries within their reach. This led to the outbreak of World War II.
