    During the 1932 presidential election, Franklin D. Roosevelt announced that he will implement the New Deal by saying "I pledge you, I pledge myself to a new deal for the American people ...". The New Deal became a series of programs by which Roosevelt put into practice security regulations, tariff reductions, government-funded public works, support for farmers, and he addressed the problem of unemployment.
