Why were waterways such as the Indus, Ganges, and Huang He Rivers important in the past? How are they important now?

    Rivers not only supplied fresh water, but also food (such as fish), different items (Such as clay to build houses, or reeds to build paper), transportation and depending on the river protection from foreign attacks. This transportation on the rivers allow for trade with the items made from the river.
