How did Colombia react to the United States' proposal to construct a canal through Central America?

They preferred to build such a canal themselves.

They preferred that no canal be built at all.

They agreed to sell land to the United States to build the canal, but in a less advantageous location than the Panamanians.

They felt that Roosevelt's deal offered too little money.

They felt that Roosevelt's deal offered too little money.

    Explanation:

When Theodore Roosevelt believed that America had a big role in the world, because of that he pushed to have the US build the Panama Canal. The Canal dug across Panama and saved ship thousand of miles of travel between the Atlantic and Pacific ocean.

The problem was that the US needed permission from Colombia to build the canal, since in that moment, Panama was a part of Colombia.

But Colombia refused and wanted a bigger payment, so Roosevelt used the Big Stick Policy supporting a revolt that led to the independence of Panama.
