Which statement best explains the relationship between the economy of the south and the north?

    Assuming you are talking about Civil War era, the economies could not have varied more. The north very much relied on manufacturing and was home to a majority of factories in the United States at the time. The south, however, was very agrarian based. It's economy relied on slave labor to pick cotton, tobacco, and rice.
