Tobacco - Tobacco can be found world wide today, but originated from the Americas during the Columbian Exchange. This crop also fueled the rate at which people wanted to colonize, and it's demand also pushed the demand/need for workers, pushing the enslaving of many Africans.

Colonization - After the "discovery" of the Americas, many countries (especially Spain, France, and England) pushed to settle as much of the New World as they could. This shift in mindset with the discovery of a new place fueled new industry and ideas to accomplish this. The affects of these different groups settling the Americas can still be seen distinctly in various areas in the Americas today (Languages, foods, holidays, etc.).

Cuisine: Without the Columbian exchange, many foods we associate as cultural and ethnic foods of other countries simply would not exist. My favorite example is tomatoes and all the red pasta sauces we assume have always been part of Italian cuisine. Any Irish potato dish also fits this example.
