Russia - The people of Belarus, Ukraine and Russia claim their ancestry to be from the Kievan Empire. The first ruler of the Kievan Empire, Prince Oleg (882-912) united East Slavic lands to form the Kievan Rus. The people of Belarus, Ukraine and Russia descended from these Slavs. In fact both Russia and Belarus derive their names from the Kievan Rus.
