The failures were due to the following reasons:
1. Majority of the Alliancemen in the state legislature were politically naive - thus are Neophyte. Most were not politically inclined like lawyers or professional politician. rather they were farmers who did not understand the principle of politics. They therefore their inexperience in the legislative processes lead to the failure to come out with the alliance agenda.
2. Although the nominal support of the majority of the legislature was secured, the farmer's alliance failed to win the majority of the Democratic party. Thus Edward Chambers. S and Spier Whitaker of the non alliance democrats, checkmated their efforts, thus ensured that the alliance did not have it ways.,
