The correct answer should be D. all of the above

There were people who supported abolition but did not support integration into society and inclusion. They just wanted to free the slaves, not live with them or work with them. Also, people didn't want to give them jobs so they came up with other racist laws that were designed to protect their lifestyle. There was an idea that there was a southern high culture that needs to be protected.
