What factors caused great britain to lose control of india

    Mostly World War II made the UK exhausted and weak and the economy nearly collapsed. India had also started many revolutionary uprisings against the British. During the World Wars, Britain had taken many riches and soldiers from India to pay for it's expenses. The people in India were outraged and many famous people (the most famous being Gandhi) revolted against Britain and they were forced to become more violent, ending in massacres. India was so valuable to Britain that they were called "the jewel of Britain but India was making their financial debts and problems worse, so eventually they gave into India becoming an independent country which it became in 1947
