Nativists believe that they are of higher social class then everybody else, who is not of their race. They can get these feelings from many things, but particularly jealousy. In the 1800's many people migrated to California or the job opportunities. Chinese people also migrated there. They where talented in explosives, so they where hired easily by railroad companies. This made people jealous for their positions and turn them into nativists.
