Morrie claims to Mitch on the eleventh Tuesday that society's major problem is its shortsightedness and its inability to realize its potential. Because most member of the society wants their potential to materialize then and there, Morrie claims, we get a society where there are very few able to reach their potential, while the rest have to be kept within boundaries by the military. Hence Morrie claims that the problem with society is its inability to see what it could be and realize its potential.
