Why did people immigrate to the United States in the nineteenth century

    19th century saw a boom in America’s economy. Many people migrated to the country in search for better opportunities. They were attracted by the news of gold rush in California. Another reason is to attain freedom - - - in their religion or ideals. Most of the immigrants are from Europe and some Asian countries, basically those with more restrictive laws and poor economy. There were 5 million immigrants from Germany alone. This high rate in migrant concerned many American natives, who voiced their anti-immigration beliefs.
