In 1996 archaeologists from the association of preservation of Virginia antiquities found the artefacts of the fort James. It was thought that with the explosion Jamestown Peninsula turned into an island the Fort James sank under the sea.

But later many weapons, armours and some games were found and it was established that there was once a colony at that place. Colonialist arrived to build up new colonies and live in 1600's.
