There are many different features that occurred, for example the encomienda system was put into place to regulate the American Indian laboring as well as the behavior while colonization. Since Spain was always trying to christianize the natives leading to rebellions since their culture was being oppressed and made to seem as if it was less than Spain's since it was so different.
