Salutary neglect is when England becomes more focused on the political and economic problems of the island itself instead of the colonies. This means that England let the laws within the colonies become loose, allowing for colonists to basically do whatever they wanted because England was too distracted to interfere.

Therefore, local governments were created more often than not within the colonies which the King didn’t want because England has a monarchy.

In addition, resent between the colonists and the King grew because the King was less focused on the problems of the colonists.

It eventually would add more motivation for the colonists to rebel against the King and become their own nation.
