A writ of habeus corpus serves a very specific function in a legal system it’s designed as a mechanism for challenging the detention of a person held by the state. You don’t "appeal" for it; you "petition" the court with a writ of habeus corpus, which compels the state to produce the person being held, as well as provide the legal basis upon which the person is being held.
