The Lone Star Republic was the republic of Texas. The flag had only one star and was meant to show the states that it can stand as a country on it's own.
How it came to be: During the time, there wasn't many people living in texas, but Mexico encouraged settlement there, but made the settlers promise to become mexican citizens. This republic was meant to tell mexico and the states that it was independent and it didnt need to be mexican.
