A pull factor in immigration is any factor that encourages individuals to leave their home country and move to a different one. In the case of the United States in the 1800's, the main pull factor was 3) industrial jobs. The industries in the United States were taking off at this time and immigrants looked to capitalize on this. Although the industrial jobs were the main pull factor, religious prosecution and freedom of speech also played a large role in the immigration of people to the United States.
