    "Mahabharata and the Ramayana were two epic poems from the Indus Valley civilization and to this date along with Bhagwad Gita are the most followed scripture by Hindus. The oldest known Mahabharata epic were composed around 400 BCE. For Ramayana, it is even older epic and the oldest palm-leaf manuscript found in Nepal are as old as 11th century CE. According to Hindu beliefs the events of Ramayana took place during a time-period known as Treta Yug and the events of Mahabharata took place during a time known as Dvapara Yuga. The end of Mahabharata is generally considered as the end of Dvapara Yuga and the start of Kali Yuga or the modern times continuing today."
