    The transcontinental railroad.

    Explanation:

The construction of the transcontinental railroad built between 1863 to 1868 to connect the western and eastern halves of the United States was a historical decision to build vital business links and open up vast areas of land for the development of the continent.

Thought the decision did not go down well with the American Indians who saw it as an attempt to dislodge them from the original settlement. Acts were enacted to suppress their opinions and lethal force was applied to make the confirm, giving birth to India relocation act.

This has caused business to grow through both ends and position the United States as industrial hub of the century.

Alternatively, if the relocation of Indians was not enforced and the transcontinental railroad was not birthed, the business could still be limited to regions and the vast land opened for development might still be inhabitated by games.
