The pre-Socratic philosophers are a number of early Greek philosophers active before or during the time of Socrates like Solos, Thales, Periander etc.

These pre-Socratic philosophers often rejected the old traditional and mythological phenomenon for the things happening around them. Rather they believed in the fundamental entity of the things like - how and when the things are created? From where the things are created? How to describe something mathematically etc. So basically their vision formed a basis for mathematical, scientific and philosophic study in the future and these have been updated by later developments in Science.
